10 Days . . .

I have ten days left . . .
and then,

CNA & Caregiver classes are over.

I have ten days left . . .
and then,

I'm on an airplane headed half way across the world.
To China.
For 33 days.                                (Some days, the thought can't even fit
                                                    into my mind, it's that big.)

I've already passed my State Board exam to become a certified nursing assistant. (woot!) Soon I'll take my State Board test to become a licensed caregiver. (hollah!)

I can honestly say, if I never use either of those certifications, this last year has been amazing. There were plenty of days I would NOT call my CNA classes amazing. Most days, actually. But I've grown more than I thought I could in one year.

I've met some wonderful people through this. From the elderly widower with incredible stories of his faith and his love and his life, to some beautiful classmates who have never failed to share their smiles.

I've also gone through stress, and relationship... strains. Some days I cried out in the pain, 'God, I can't take this if You don't take it with me!' I have even been mocked and out-right insulted for my faith and my life-style, but by God's grace I was able to look back into the eyes of those mocked me with love and forgiveness. And in the end, I was able to share my faith with those who scorned it. And I wouldn't take back the scorn for the opportunities, and I so thankful.

I hope when people saw me, they didn't see a brown eyed girl, with purple streaks in her hair, that was basically like anyone else. I hope they saw a girl that was in love with God, and wanted nothing more than to have joy in Jesus alone, her Savior.

I hope I showed them love.

Honestly, if I had the chance, I would talk with each one of my classmates individually, and tell them how much God loves them. Because He does. He loves you so much, that He longs after your heart. Longing that you would spend time in His love, getting to know Who He Is.

Seek Him.

Only in Him, is true, unending, unconditional love. His love is not based on what you do or if you love Him or even care about His love. He loves you because He is love. Because He created you, and He wants you to find purpose and joy and LIFE in Him.

If only you could see how much I want you know this. How my heart aches for His love. I long for His love to grow greater in me, and be increased in others! I wish I could tell you HOW WONDERFUL it is. There is nothing good in my life, that didn't come from my God! My life is an adventure with my Savior. He gave me joy, where there was once only bitterness. And the unknown in my future doesn't have me worrying, because I know, He knows how my future will play out. To Him it is no different than my past, and my present: in His hands.

You. Are. Loved. He loves you. 

You.

Are.

Loved.

Let this truth shatter every other lie that is fighting for a place in your head and life at this moment. I could write on forever, about how I'm so not perfect and life is hard.
But when my words cease, may you walk away with the thought that I am like you and we are loved beyond the pain.
It's that simple.
Beyond all else,  you are loved. He loves you.

The Lord Will Quiet You With His Love

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." -2 Corinthians 1:3-4

I have had a few different friends lose loved ones in the past month or so, and I wish I'd been a better comforter and friend to them in that time. But we can learn from our mistakes. And we can grow in our times of trouble.

"I am filled with comfort. I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation." -2 Corinthians 7:4b

"This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life." -Psalm 119:50

Lean Not On Your Own Understanding (pt1)

I was visiting my grandparents the other day when a commercial played on their TV. It was for a Christian online dating site. The add said, "Sometimes we wait for God to move, when He's saying 'It's your time to act.'"
"Ha!" my grandad said. "I think it's always safe wait for God! That is so dumb! ...Wasn't that that Abraham's problem? He thought he knew what was best for him and took things into his own hands rather than waiting for God."

He left me thinking of the many times the Bible says to wait. We are shown, through the lives of many throughout the Bible, what the consequences are for not waiting on the Lord, and what a reward there is when they do wait for Him.

Psalm 62:5 says, "My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him." (emphasise mine)

How many times we search for joy, love, and pleasure from people (and things). We think 'If I just had a boyfriend who loves me, then I will be happy'. Sure, that may satisfy you for a while, but for how long? We cannot find everlasting joy in any relationship, except in a relationship with our perfect Christ! And until we learn to find the love, security, and intimacy that you long in God alone, you will never be satisfied.

"We say, then, to anyone who is under trial, give Him time to steep the soul in His eternal truth. Go into the open air, look up into the depths of the sky, or out upon the wideness of the sea, or on the strength of the hills that is His also; or, if bound in the body, go forth in the spirit; spirit is not bound. Give Him time and, as surely as dawn follows night, there will break upon the heart a sense of certainty that cannot be shaken." -Amy Carmichael

Look at the world, behold the splendor of God's creation! Even in it's fallen sinful state it is showing the might of our God and screaming of His awesome power. Give Him time to steep the soul in His eternal truth, the Bible. After having faithfully done so you will know that He is in control!



Be a faithful Christian, one who waits silently for God alone, and whose expectation is from the Lord!



And when I speak of the faithful Christian, I picture to myself one who has truly brought their whole unto God, by a true confiding faith in Jesus Christ as their All. One who has presented themselves entirely surrendered, transformed, a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God; someone who not only knows, but acts upon the fact that they owe everything to the blood that was shed for them on Calvary, and who is now fully absorbed with the redeeming mercies of the Lord. They are joyful- joyful, because they have an intimate relationship with their Saviour and Lord.

They know that they have One who knows them like no other, and whatever worries there may be, they know that the Lord reigns, and is superintending all for good; they are not overcome with fear. Yes, they may have great misfortunes, but they know that it is guided by a Father who pities their distresses and loves them with an everlasting love. They have a Friend mightier than the powers of evil, therefore they can sings in spite of their trouble—"The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart dances for joy, and in my song will I praise Him!" God's joyous light that shines on them, relieving them of their riddles, filling them with wisdom, giving them food for delightful meditation and living water for their thirsty soul, comforting their heart, and kindling radiance along all their way! That is what I mean when I speak of a faithful Christian!

We are not an alone, we have a righteous, almighty, and loving Saviour, Who sees all, and provides for all, and takes care of all! We can see by the love shown to us daily, and the love shown for us on Calvary, that He is the Only One who can love us so. And as we become more like that faithful Christian, we will soon be able to say with the psalmist, “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You." (Psalm 39:7)

He has told us that those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing (Psalm 34:10), and that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), let us have faith and trust in His promises!

I can not tell you of how much greater it is to choose God's best above our best, and not just in the area of a spouse, but in every area! We need only to have faith in Who He Is, and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Heb 11:6) Seek the Lord, through prayer and His word. Wait on Him. (Ps. 19:14)

Lord, Make Me a Healthy Christian

A healthy Christian is one of the liveliest creatures on earth. When he is at work you may hear him sing. He cannot help it; do not blame him for a little noise. Let him sing, and laugh till he cries. Sometimes he cannot help it; he will burst if his soul may not have vent. When he begins to talk about his Lord his eyes flash fire. Some people hint that he is out of his mind; but those who know best assure us that he was never before so sane as now. Of course, the world thinks religion is such poor stuff that nobody could grow excited about it. To my mind, cold religion is the nastiest dish ever brought to table. True godliness is served up hot. Newness of life means a soul aglow with love to God, and therefore earnest, zealous, happy. Let the believing man have space for his larger life, swing for his grander joy. Nay, do not gag him; let him sing his new song. If any man out of heaven has a right to be happy, it is the man who lives in newness of life. Come, beloved, I want you to go home to-day with the resolve that the newness of life shall be more apparent in your walk. Do not live the old life over again. Why should you? He Is Faithful

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." -Isaiah 43:2

Sometimes God doesn't take us over the water, or pull us out of the fire; sometimes He takes us through it. It, at times, feels unbareable. But He is so much bigger than my problems. His strength and mercy is enough when I let Him take me through.

I recently listened to a sermon called "As Always, So Now Also" by Pastor Randy Cox. God truly blessed me with that sermon. (You can listen to it at thecrowncollege.com/chapel_archive/) The first thing the pastor said was "You cannot plan a better course for you life than what God has already planned."

Psalm 30:5b "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning"

There is nothing that compares to the good and acceptable and perfect will of God!

Surpassing All My Understanding!

Wow. I don't know how, or what to write, but I feel like I need to express this joy, this amazing inner peace. It's like a great light trying to shine out, like a beautiful song trying to burst through, or a dance -deep inside of me- ready to leap into action!

It is so wonderful to know that He is sovereign! When I realize that God has a plan for me, He has a reason for all this that is too high for me to grasp... it makes me smile.

I have been pretty busy with VBS for the last couple of days. I have been praying for the students I would have for VBS as soon as I knew I would be teaching a class; and it has just been so wonderful knowing that God choose these (two) students just for me.

God, as gracious as He is, has given me faith this week to surrender, and because of that I have been seeing how, the facts that I've had to change the weeks lessons and only had two very introverted children have been planned out perfectly by God. I can't explain it, but if each thing this week had not happened how and when it did, it just wouldn't have been right.

The Lord has put verses and answers in my mouth to give to these kid's questions, and I can really see them opening up! And it is so exciting.

All I can say: God is so good! His way is perfect! Oh, if only I would learn how high above my way His way is. He has turned my anxiety into a peace that surpasses all understanding!

Psalm 37:4,5, "Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

(If you have made it down here, I commend you, because my mind is going 100 miles an hour right now and I have know idea how random this post may be.) I guess what I'm saying is trust, obey, and be thankful; because He has a treasure in store, because His way is better than yours, and because there is not a chance you can see ahead and find out what peace, joy, and fulfilment it will bring to serve where and how God has lead you to work.

As I was learning/teaching in VBS, without the shield of faith all of the devils fiery darts would have harmed Joseph and Job and you. But when we simply trust that He allowed this for a reason we can grow -completely unaffected by the devils fiery darts.

Oh, I am so thankful for the love He gives!

Jacob started out closed and seemingly unresponsive, but now he has opened up so much he would rather learn more from the Bible than play a game! Putting Your All On the Altar (Day 4)

The Christian life is not adding Jesus to one's own way of life but renouncing that personal way of life for His and being willing to pay whatever cost that may require. -John MacArthur

Psalm 1:2 tells us about a godly man. It says, "His delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night." Do you delight in the law of the Lord? And are you meditating on it day and night?

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer! (Ps. 19:14)

Let Me See As You See, Lord

Teach me to number my days aright. that I may gain a heart of wisdom . . . Satisfy me in the morning with your unfailing love, that I may sing for joy and be glad all my days. – Psalm 90: 12,14

If you would live in victory over the circumstances, great and small, that come to you each day . . . and if you want God's life and power to well up from the depths of your being . . . then you must refuse to be dominated by the seen and the felt.

You say: "I could climb mountains if God asked me to. That would be a joy!
"But here I stand, on this dreary seashore of my life, looking over this dreary backwash bay and a drearier shoreline - and beyond that, inland, no mountains. Nothing invigorating, or inspiring. Nothing hard enough to inspire anyone . . .

"The whole of my life is like that these days - not hard, just dull. I would have chosen challenging over dull. A challenge that would make me want to achieve at any cost. It's this useless feeling that's so devastating."

God says: "Have you looked up?"

'So long…?'

You need to grow in patience. For after you have done the will of God, you must learn to wait to receive the full extent of His promise.

It is written: "As for me, when I am poor and feeling heavy, Your help, O God, will lift me up. I wait patiently, trusting that You will lift me up." And it is also written: "I will abide in patience, and will praise you more and more."

So I ask: have you tried to face your life - those dull, dreary days - with the lifting power of praise?
You must look steadfastly through the visible, until the invisible opens up to you.

My father, so often I get weighed down under the demands of my own life. Sometimes I see little purpose in the endless repetition of little duties. Jobs done today, that need doing again tomorrow. What is it, in the daily work you have given me to do, that is of eternal value to you? Lift my sights, Lord. Let me see today, and each duty in this day, as you see it.

When I Am Weak -part 1

Job 42:5-6 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes."

I hate myself. I have been hating myself more and more resently. I read that verse in Job and I winced... I've been really down and the more I've read from God's Word the more I felt... unworthy.

Right after reading that verse I flip through my flash cards and read Romans 7:12, "Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good." Again and again words like "holy and just and good" popped up each time I read the Bible and each time I would cringe inside thinking of my own short comings.

(Another flash card verse: Romans 7:5) "For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death." Am I still in the flesh? No! Why do I continually act so unlike a new creation?

Now, I don't mean I was just feelin' down, I was aching, sick of myself I felt like Job when he said he said he abhored himself.

But then the Lord showed me these verses -1 Corinthians 6:9-11- "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

Now, believe it or not after that I didn't feel like singing or dancing -which is what I normaly do when I am really happy- I just leaned back and smiled. I felt a peace, God's wonderful peace, and I felt tears.

None of these verses were new to me, I had not only heard them before but had memorized them, but nothing sunk in quite like it did last night.

2 Corinthians 11:3 (another one of my flash cards ;) ) says "But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."

The message of the Gospel is simple; a no-brainer! (How could I have been so deceived!)

Last verse:
"Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." (Revelation 12:10-11)
